HOW TO EFFECTIVELY PREPARE YOUR TODDLER FOR A DENTAL EXAM IN AIRDRIE

Talk a lot about teeth with your child. Teach your child as much as you can about teeth. This is very important, a child is able to understand the importance of keeping their teeth clean and healthy. You should put a lot of emphasis on their importance, how they are used for chewing and they are also for beauty, smiling and etc.

You cannot preach water and use wine. You should set a good example for your children. When a child is growing, they are bound to learn from what they see you doing. You should make it a family habit to brush teeth together. You should give them the chance to even try and count your teeth. With time they will be able to take care of their own mouth and teeth.

You should book the appointment appropriately. Choose a time that a child has rested enough. A good example is during the day. During the day the child is well rested and they are more likely to cooperate. It is very important to listen to your child. They should share they fears and worries ? you should assure them that all will be well and you will be there too.

What will happen in a dental room will depend on the age of your child. Regular checkups involves the dentist evaluating the child?s dental health. The dentist also checks for chances of developing dental decay. They then clean your child?s tooth. If a dentist suspects anything, there are diagnostic tests that are done ? x-rays, etc. if you child is suffering from cavities, they are repaired.
